Doggy Ditties Returns!
Over the years, I have had many doggy friends here in Four Mile reserve. Of course, there are so many dogs living here, roaming wild and free, starving, looking for affection and a kind word........... Some of my friends have had names, and many of you will remember Princess and her puppies, but many of them I have given generic names, such as pup, bud, fella, hey you, or just plain doggy. My latest little friend I have named Little Pup. For a long time I didn't know whether it was a he or she, but the other day, 'he' decided to 'water' the beam by my front door, glibly lifting his leg and spraying his mark on my house, surely signalling to all the local canines, "Hey, she's mine!" Little Pup often comes running over when I come out my door, his little butt wiggling in eager anticipation of his chin scratches. I scratch him under the chin, which seems to be his preferred area of pleasure. Other dog friends of the past have gone for the belly rub or the head scratch, but not Little Pup - he's strictly a "scratch-me-under-the-chin" poochy. While getting his pleasure, his nose rests in the palm of my hand, and his eyes gaze up at me, adoringly. Little Pup is, as his name suggests, little. Many of the dogs are German Shepherdish types, and about that size, so this pup is somewhat different. This is also why I continue to call him 'pup', though I suspect his puppy days are long since past. Luckily, LP doesn't smell to bad. Generally, the fellas around here smell really bad, and after all my various rubs and pats, I go back inside and wash my hands! LP seems to have no such odourous handicap, though I still wash my hands anyway. LP did not appreciate the day I took his picture. He didn't seem to like my pointing the strange silver thing at him, and several shots came out showing the whites of his eyes, his protest to puppy portrature.
