Back in Bella Coola

Yes, it's back to business, and real life, I guess. I got back to beautiful Bella Coola on August 22 - back to the mountains, the rivers, the peace and quiet; back to meeting people everywhere who know me - the friendliness of a small town! It has now been more than three weeks since school started, and it almost seems like I never left.....almost.....except, I have all these memories.....and stories...and photos.....so yes, I really did go to India for a year!

So what's my life like here? Here's my new house - somewhat of an improvement over the old one in some ways, but not so great in other ways. I'm now living on "MAIN STREET" - that is, Main Street, Four Mile subdivision - it's not all THAT main, but relatively, too main for me!





My new house is situated behind what I call "the stockade", a very high, wooden, slatted fence. Though it is high, however, it does not prevent anyone from seeing into my place....I sit on my couch and watch people go by through the slats of the fence....I feel somewhat exposed....but maybe no-one is looking in at me, though I'm looking out at them.....?







Here is the school - Acwsalcta School - with the now 'one-horned' fella sitting atop the main entrance. Great paintings on the eves!


There is a new totem pole in front of the school - spectacular!
