Hallowe'en and Beyond

Hallowe'en is over, Remembrance Day is but a memory, and Christmas is coming soon. For teachers, Hallowe'en is a day to dress up and act crazy along with the kids. I "dressed up" in my sari, complete with my "bought-from-the-bus-stand-fake-gold-jewelry". Most of the kids at my school had no idea what I was. They kept coming up to me and saying, "What are you supposed to be?" Well, of course I told them I was an Indian lady, and this proved slightly confusing, because they think of themselves as Indians.......! Here is the teacher costume line up!

Remembrance Day featured three different groups of kids doing songs, all led by me. I have a couple of video clips of the songs which I'll upload in a few days.

Time to start planning the Christmas concert. I've got a few ideas for the staff, including "Mary and the Elvettes" doing a version of "Santa Bring My Baby Back to Me", an old Elvis favorite.

Alas, my camera has not reappeared. This means buying a new one....and deciding which one to buy. Anyone out there have a camera they really love? I'm thinking of either another Sony or a Canon.

I like my Canon A610 (almost 2 years old). It has a comfortable grip, & a swing-out screen which I really like.

That's a very funny cultural juxtaposition. LOL
