Lopon Sang-Ngang Yeshe Visits Bella Coola
Clyde Tallio and I have been working togther for several months to bring Lopon Sang-Ngang Yeshe to Bella Coola to give some teachings on meditation and spiritual practice. The event finally happened, May 2-5. Lopon and his translator, Linda, arrived on Friday at noon, and the first workshop was on Friday evening.
On Saturday, we had the second workshop.
Sunday morning, we went to church!!!! for an inter-faith dialgue kind of service. Lopon spoke about love and compassion being the goal of all religious practice. It was.......an interesting experience. Lopon had never been to a church, in fact, he knew nothing about Christianity, having lived all his life, except for the past two years, in Buddhist monasteries.
I was the chief cook for their visit. Sunday lunch, Lopon decided that all he really wanted to eat was yogurt......President's Choice organic strawberry yogurt, that is.
Various people came to the workshops, the final one being on Sunday afternoon. Here is the group, posed, all of us verging on enlightenment, with Lopon busy checking out the latest shot taken on his camera........!
Sunday evening was a great potluck at Ben Fernandez's house - Lopon enjoyed this one tremendously - great food, great company.
We would all love to have Lopon and Linda return to the Valley. I just need some time to recover from this visit......
